Series Advantages
Where vertical CNC lathes are used
Vertical CNC turning centres are used at facilities requiring precise machining of heavy, oversized, and disc-shaped parts. The vertical spindle layout reliably holds the workpiece by its own weight and enables high-accuracy machining.
Power generation and oil & gas
Machining valve bodies, large-diameter flanges, turbine discs and impellers, wellhead components and drilling rig parts. The vertical lathe handles workpieces weighing several tonnes.
Heavy machinery
Production of flywheels, pulleys, large-module gears, gearbox housings, conveyor drums and rollers. Vertical machining stays stable even with large stock allowances.
Mining and metallurgy
Machining of liner rings, crusher housings, furnace flanges and ladle components. Especially relevant in Kazakhstan for ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy plants.
Aerospace and defence
Precision machining of engine casings, compressor discs, hydraulic cylinder bodies and weapon system components requiring high accuracy and controlled geometry.
Railway industry
Machining of wheelsets, brake discs, wheel hubs, large bearing rings. The vertical lathe enables single-setup machining.
Shipbuilding and ship repair
Manufacture of propellers, shaft flanges, bearing rings, valve box housings. Capable of machining workpieces up to 2-3 metres in diameter.
What parts are machined on vertical CNC lathes
The vertical lathe design is optimal for workpieces with a high diameter-to-length ratio — where a horizontal lathe physically cannot cope. The typical machining range on East CNC machines is from 800 to 3000 mm in diameter.
Materials machined on vertical CNC lathes
The high-torque table drive and rigid construction of East CNC machines allow practically any industrial metal to be machined — from soft non-ferrous alloys to heat-resistant steels.
Carbon steels
Steels 45, 40Х, 20, Ст3 — the principal material in mechanical engineering. Trouble-free machining even at large stock allowances.
Alloy steels
30ХГСА, 40ХН, 38Х2МЮА — for high-strength components. Used in oil & gas and heavy machinery.
Stainless steels
AISI 304, 316, 321, 12Х18Н10Т — for food, chemical, pharmaceutical and oil & gas industries.
Heat-resistant alloys
ХН77ТЮР, ХН60ВТ, Inconel — for gas turbine, aviation and energy components. Demands high machine rigidity.
Cast iron
Grey, malleable and high-strength cast iron — for flywheels, gearbox housings, pulleys and large body parts.
Non-ferrous metals
Aluminium alloys (АК4, Д16, АМг6), copper, bronze, brass — for electrical engineering, instruments and shipbuilding.
Titanium and titanium alloys
ВТ1-0, ВТ6, ВТ20 — for aerospace, medical and defence industries. Machined at low speeds with abundant coolant.
Tool steels
Х12МФ, 9ХС, ШХ15 — for stamping dies, moulds and bearings.
Composites and plastics
Textolite, caprolon, PTFE — for chemical industry and instrumentation. Only cutting parameters need adjustment.

Vertical CNC lathe FAQ
We have collected the answers to the most common questions from customers in Kazakhstan. If you do not find your question — write to us, we will reply within one business day.
How is a vertical CNC lathe different from a horizontal lathe?
On a vertical lathe the spindle is positioned vertically and the workpiece is held on a circular table (faceplate) by its own weight. This is critical for machining heavy disc and flange parts: on a horizontal lathe such a workpiece would have to be supported by the tailstock, which is not always feasible. The vertical lathe specialises in short large-diameter workpieces — where the part length is less than its diameter.
What is the maximum machining diameter on your vertical lathes?
The Taizhou Eastern CNC vertical lathe range covers 800 mm to 3000 mm maximum machining diameter. Specific models and their capabilities are listed in the catalogue above, or request details from our engineers — we will select a machine for your workpieces.
How long does delivery to Kazakhstan take?
Standard lead time is 60 to 120 days from contract signing and advance payment. Stock items ship faster, made-to-order machines require 45-90 days production plus 14-21 days logistics and customs clearance.
Are commissioning and start-up included in the price?
Commissioning and start-up are a separate service priced according to the machine model, delivery region and integration complexity. For larger machines (1500 mm+) commissioning is normally included; for smaller ones it is quoted separately. We provide the exact cost when preparing the commercial offer.
Which CNC system is installed?
The standard configuration is Fanuc 0i-TF Plus or Siemens 828D, customer choice. These two are the most widespread CNC systems in the world, easy to find operators and programmers for in Kazakhstan. GSK or Mitsubishi available on request.
What does the warranty cover?
12 months from commissioning. Covers: assembly defects, component failures not caused by misuse, deviations from rated specifications. Does not cover: consumables (coolant, filters, belts), damage from incorrect operation, lack of scheduled maintenance.
Where do I get spare parts and how long is the wait?
Common spare parts (filters, hoses, sensors, electrical components) are stocked locally in Kazakhstan and shipped same day. Specific parts (guideways, spindles, servo motors) come from the Taizhou Eastern CNC factory: 35-45 days by sea, 5-7 days by air for urgent repairs.
Can I order a machine with non-standard configuration?
Yes. The Taizhou Eastern CNC factory builds machines on a modular architecture — additional options can be specified: C-axis, live tooling, probe, expanded tool magazine, automatic loading/unloading system. Lead time for non-standard configuration is 90-120 days.
Are your machines suitable for titanium and heat-resistant alloys?
Yes. The rigid cast-iron bed, powerful table drive and quality guideways allow titanium (ВТ1-0, ВТ6) and heat-resistant alloys (Inconel, ХН77ТЮР) to be machined at properly selected parameters. For such tasks we recommend models with through-tool coolant supply.
